Broken by Design is an Intense Foray into the Darkest Places of Cody Brande's Mind (La Crosse, Wisconsin)
Cody Brande's debut album, 'Broken by Design', was released on May 6th. Pulling inspiration from Progressive Metal, Hard Rock, and Neue Deutsche Härte; the album combines hard-hitting sounds with anthemic vocals and somber, emotional moments of vulnerability to create an intense and deeply impactful journey through the musician's mind.
The album's conception came about while Cody was working as a freelance vocalist. A songwriter since a young age, he decided that, if he were to feel fulfilled as a musician, he had to shift his focus toward his own music. His intent was to make the closest representation to the sounds he'd always heard in his head since childhood, a record that required no creative compromise.
The album spans 11 tracks, featuring fast-paced metal offerings such as "Return to Pain", "Impure", & "The Siren's Call" alongside both powerful mid-tempo hard rock tracks like "My Heroes" and intense ballads like "Soal". The lyrical content rides the line between anger and melancholy, providing a sort of catharsis in its emotional presentation of those feelings. About Cody Brande
Cody Brande is an American multi-instrumentalist and singer based out of La Crosse, Wisconsin. Born in April of 1997, he began his music career in 2015 by forming the St. Paul-based hard rock band, Crux of Motion; with which he released the album, 'Automaton' on YouTube throughout 2017 and 2018. He has also provided additional vocals for the Visionary album, 'Cybergenerated', the Sylace Snow album, 'Existence/Resistance', and the Fubahre album, 'Generic Brand Rock Stars'.
Cody began pursuing a solo career in 2019 after Crux of Motion went on an indefinite hiatus, beginning by pursuing a short-lived career as a studio vocalist-for-hire. After feeling dissatisfied with his lack of creative freedom when working as a hired-on musician, he decided to pursue his own musical interests by beginning work on his debut album in early 2020. The album, titled 'Broken by Design', released on May 6th, 2022, and combines influences from Hard Rock, Progressive Metal, Ambient, Neue Deutsche Härte, and Nu Metal. When asked to describe his work, Cody referred to it as "...music to make you feel things, whether those things are happy and cathartic or sad and harrowing."
