DICKERSON, MARYLAND - November 30, 2023 – Michelle Lockey, a seasoned recording artist and accomplished singer-songwriter based in Maryland, has released her latest single, "Why Don't They Choose Me?" An emotionally charged Acoustic Alternative Folk composition, the song delves into the depths of loneliness and the struggle to fit in, resonating with listeners who have experienced feelings of rejection and isolation.
In collaboration with long-time friend and producer Stephen Joseph Antonelli of SongBuilder Studios (http://songbuilderstudios.com/), Lockey crafted a musical narrative that explores the impact of childhood trauma, teenage angst, and the journey of self-discovery. The song is part of Lockey's upcoming album, "Dig Deeper," a project delving into various life regrets and personal revelations.
"We worked together over a few sessions at his studio to write, talk, laugh, and, of course, record the song," says Lockey. "I wanted it to be acoustic but have an Indie/Alt vibe, drawing inspiration from artists like Noah Cyrus. 'Why Don't They Choose Me?' carries a message that I believe many can relate to."
Antonelli, who co-wrote the song, played various instruments, mixed, and mastered the track. Lockey recorded vocals at SongBuilder Studios. The single is currently available on Bandcamp (https://michellelockey.bandcamp.com/track/why-dont-they-choose-me) and will be released on all media outlets on January 12, 2024.
Explaining the inspiration behind the song, Lockey shares, "I had a lot of low self-esteem growing up and never really liked myself. This song explores those feelings where someone does not feel liked, feels bullied or made fun of, and just wants to fit in."
