The 2022 Pittsburgh Blues and Roots Festival to Feature Pittsburgh's Own Lady of the Blues, Miss Freddye, with Proceeds to Benefit Band Together Pittsburgh and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh

The 2022 Pittsburgh Blues and Roots Festival is a two day event that will take place on Saturday, July 30th and Sunday July 31st. Gates open at 12 noon both days. The event will be held at the Pittsburgh Shrine Center located at 1877 Shriners Way in Cheswick, Pennsylvania.
This year's festival will donate proceeds to two local Autism charities: Band Together Pittsburgh and the Autism Society of Pittsburgh. Supporting the charities, the 2022 festival lineup includes a stellar roster of nationally acclaimed blues and roots artists including Pittsburgh's own Lady of The Blues, Miss Freddye Blues Band, as well as Pierce Dipner & Shades of Blue, Kenny Blake & The New Hip, Loris Russo & The Uppercuts and many more. About Miss Freddye, Pittsburgh's Own Lady of the Blues
For over 25 years, Miss Freddye has kept the blues alive in her native hometown, Pittsburgh. Singing at a young age in church combined with her mother's love of the Blues paved the path for Miss Freddye into the world of Blues. Her Influences include: Koko Taylor, Etta James, Sarah Vaughn, Billie Holiday, Big Mama Thornton, Big AL Leavitt, and Bessie Smith.
Miss Freddye has won multiple awards including: the 2016 Pittsburgh Music Awards, 2015 Freedom From Silence Award, and a 2014 Star Award. Miss Freddye is no stranger to charity work. In addition to the 2022 Pittsburgh Blues and Roots Festival, she has participated in Relay for Life American Cancer Society, Pink Day fundraiser for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation, local VFWs and American Legion, Toys for Tots, and Sing to Stop Domestic Violence.

About the Autism Society of Pittsburgh
The Autism Society of Pittsburgh was founded in 1966. Many of their programs and initiatives started in Pittsburgh and inspired the establishment of similar endeavors far beyond their Pennsylvania borders. The society co-founded the Spectrum Charter School and advocates for the rights of those with autism to a free and appropriate education, appropriate care and treatment, and the rights of parents and families to obtain appropriate services for their family member with autism.
