"Streets of Any Town" By Kate Magdalena Is Selected for BWH Music Group's 'Keepin' It Country'

BWH Music Group Is Proud To Announce That Kate Magdalena's Song “Streets of Any Town” Has Been Selected for Keepin' It Country, Vol. One, by Various Artists, A Country Compilation Album Comprised Of An Eclectic Mix of 17 Songs By Today's Best Independent Country Artists and Songwriters. About "Streets of Any Town" San Francisco recording artist and singer-songwriter Kate Magdalena wrote her new song "Streets of Any Town" in response to her conversation she had with a homeless man on Nashville’s busy honky-tonk street, Broadway. The song is was inspired by one man's story, but it's message resonates across America where men and women still live on the streets due to economic hardships or social issues.

The song asks the rhetorical question: is it really okay in the United States of America to allow people to live on the street? The song also packs a religious punch with its refrain “the least of you”, recalling Jesus’ words from Matthew 25:45 —- ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’ Kate was raised in an era in which people looked to the arts and music to inspire social activism. Like Dylan’s great songs, Kate's music addresses some of the pressing issues of our day

"Streets of Any Town" was recorded and produced by GRAMMY-nominated-producer Billy Smiley (Johnny Cash, Whiteheart, Clay Aiken, and the Newsboys). The single features some of Nashville’s finest musicians with Fred Eltringham (The Wallflowers and Sheryl Crow), Byron House (Robert Plant and the Band of Joy), Blair Masters (Garth Brooks) and Brennan Smiley (The Technicolors). It was recorded at the Castle Studios, Franklin, TN. Streets of Any Town will be playing on local country radio stations across America, promoted by Grassroots Promotion, out of Nashville. Kate hopes that the song, and its accompanying music video may be of use to any individual or agency working with issues of homelessness.

“ The people on the streets of any town across the nation are people just like you and I who have fallen on hard times. We as a society can do better to care for them." -- Kate Magdalena

About Kate Magdalena

For Kate, singing is a way to bring what is inside, outside. It is to make the invisible audible.

"It can change minds and soften hearts. I believe that music is part of every cell of the human body; and that we can use music to reach others in ways words cannot.” - Kate

Kate songwriting began through her poetry writing, and by setting a few poems to music by great poets like W.B. Yeats and Robert Frost, and then in discovering a love of writing which came from deep within. She has always been a singer, but it is only now that she is putting her music first professionally, after a career as a teacher and chaplain. She hopes that in pursuing her own dream later in life, she might inspire others to follow their dreams.
