Artist Interview: Coia

Based in Greensboro, North Carolina, Coia is a compelling singer-songwriter blending alternative rock roots with the vibrant energy of indie-pop. With musical textures reminiscent of Jason Mraz and the emotional vocal depth of Jon Foreman, Eddie Vedder, and John Mayer, Coia has carved out a refreshing and passionate sound. Whether on stage or in the studio, his music invites listeners into moments of joy, introspection, and connection. Here's our exclusive interview!

Was there something or someone who was the "catalyst" for you to go into music? In the summer of 2013 I lost my job and a friend asked me what I would do if money wasn't an option. So I took off on my first tour and never looked back.

Let's get this out of the way. What is the craziest thing that has ever happened in your music career? I honestly had many crazy things happen to me. It seems going after your passion in life and trying to "make it" as an original artist is crazy enough lol

What has been the highlight of your music path? It was a huge gift to be able to work with Ed Cash in Nashville on a single. "Death of A King"

How do you approach songwriting or what is your creative process like? I start with an infectious melody and take whatever topic is bubbling up in me and see if I can do something with it.

Do you have a new release? Yes! My new album comes out June 26! These are some of my favorite songs I've ever worked on. I had the pleasure of working with Matt Sickels on electric guitar. He really helped to bring some of these songs to life. I think these songs really keep you dancing put a lightness in your step.

If you could share the stage or a song session with an artist, who would it be? Stephen Day

For fans who have never heard your music, how would you describe your sound? Passionate & Fun

What is your favorite part about being an artist? Is it songwriting, performing, producing...something else? My favorite part is hands down performing. I love being on stage with my band playing songs I love! It's when my inside comes out.

When you are not doing music, what else do you enjoy doing? Skateboarding. I love to skateboard & snowboard.

What is coming up in the future for you? Right now I really want to work on getting these songs into people ears. I'll be releasing another single soon enough, but hopefully my hard work will pay off and I'll get to open for some of my favorite artists.

Please add any additional information you would like fans to know. I hope you these songs make your day better and keep you hopeful. Life is hard enough, music shouldn't be tough as well.
